The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) in partnership with the city government and other stakeholders launched the creation of ad hoc committees that will combat gang wars and other violent incidents involving minors.

The launching on Wednesday, Feb. 16, was led by ICPO director Police Colonel Leo Batiles with representatives of concerned government offices and agencies.

Batiles said each of the seven districts will have its own ad hoc committee. Various programs will be implemented involving the concerned agencies or offices for the benefit of young people.

Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) records showed that there are a total of 22 gang groups in the city, composed of 149 members.

“Para mahatagan naton sila sang mga additional program or activity in collaboration with various agencies or offices” said Batiles.

The ad hoc committee is composed of the Philippine National Police (PNP), City Health Office, City Social Welfare Development Office, Task Force on Moral Values Formation, Department of Education and all barangays.

Among the programs that the committee will facilitate is counseling, said Batiles.IMT
