The number of deaths due to acute gastroenteritis (AGE) in Iloilo City has risen to 13, according to data from the City Health Office (CHO).
The deaths were among the 637 AGE and cholera cases recorded by the CHO’s City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) from July 26 to Sept. 20.
Of the total cases, 93 percent or P594 have recovered and 30 are considered active.
The city government is set to start vaccinating this month those in barangays with high cases of water- and food-borne disease.
Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW), the joint venture between the Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) and Metro Pacific Water (MPW), donated 1,000 doses of cholera vaccine to the city government.
Th city is currently under a state of calamity due to the outbreak of AGE and cholera.IMT
