Western Visayas logged 430 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Tuesday, May 4.
These additional cases pushed the total number of active cases in the region to 5,181.
Of the patients who are still infected with the novel coronavirus, 2,798 are from Negros Occidental, the highest in the region.
Bacolod City has the second highest active cases with 949, followed by Iloilo City, 392; Antique, 357; Iloilo province, 299; Capiz, 223; Aklan, 154; and Guimaras, 9.
Since the pandemic broke out in March last year, Western Visayas has recorded 36,878 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Majority or 30,771 of them have recovered and 920 have died.
Negros Occidental accounted for the highest number of cases at 12,006; followed by Bacolod City with 7,716; Iloilo City, 6,230; Iloilo province, 6,037; Capiz, 1,840; Aklan, 1,632; Antique, 1,026; and Guimaras, 391.IMT
