The number of active coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Western Visayas is higher than the region’s recovery count.
On Tuesday, Aug. 11, total COVID-19 cases in the region rose to 2,307 after the Department of Health (DOH-6) reported 178 new infections, the highest single-day increase.
Of the latest tally, 1,203 are active cases, 1,071 are recoveries, and 33 are deaths.
Majority or 157 of the newly reported cases are indigenous or local, while the rest involved locally standed individuals (13), frontline workers (6), and overseas Filipino workers (2).
Broken down by areas in the region, 93 are from Iloilo City, 40 from Iloilo province, 23 from Negros Occidental, 12 from Bacolod City, 3 each from Guimaras and Antique, 2 from Aklan, and 1 from Capiz.IMT
