The number of active coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Western Visayas has surpassed the 10,000 mark.
The region logged a new all-time high of 828 fresh cases on Thursday, June 10.
These additional infections brought the region’s total active case count to 10,050.
Four areas in the region registered new cases in triple digits. These are Negros Occidental (208), Iloilo province (204), Bacolod City (138), and Iloilo City (101).
Aklan, Capiz, Antique, and Guimaras posted a double digit increase in new cases with 68, 54, 23 and 20, respectively.
The region has a total of 53,400 cumulative cases of COVID-19, of which 42,070 have recovered and 1,264 have died.
Of the total active cases in Western Visayas, 2,296 are from Iloilo City, 2,122 from Negros Occidental, 1,993 from Iloilo province, 1,608 from Bacolod City, 773 from Capiz, 625 from Aklan, 473 from Antique, and 260 from Guimaras.
The June 10 data also showed that 62.31 percent of the active cases are asymptomatic or the infected patients do not experience symptoms at all, 33.16 percent are mild, 2.06 percent are moderate, 2.40 percent are severe, and 0.07 percent are critical.IMT
