Active COVID-19 cases in Antique drop by 40 pct

The province of Antique has recorded a 40 percent drop in the number of active coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

From 795 active cases logged on Sept. 5, the figure decreased to 315 on Oct. 5, data from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed.

PHO’s r. Leoncio Abiera said attributed the decrease to restrictions imposed on non-essential travel.

“Aside from this, the high vaccination turnout is also one factor in lowering the number of cases. Health experts in the province suggested that these protocols should still be imposed in order to continue the decreasing trend of active cases,” he added.

Meanwhile, Gov. Rhodora Cadiao agreed to extend the travel pass requirements and inter-municipality borders until October 15 only.

She hopes that RT-PCR tests will be removed as a requirement for returning Antiqueños and find other alternatives that are more affordable and accessible to all returning Antiqueños who wish to go home to the province this yuletide season.IMT
