The number of active coronavirus disease 2019 (2019) cases among police personnel in Western Visayas currently stands at 123, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO-6).

The province of Iloilo accounted for majority or 63 of the active infections in the region, followed by Negros Occidental with 14; Guimaras, 12; Regional Headquarters, 9; Aklan and Iloilo City, 6 each; Regional Mobile Force Battalion, 3; and Bacolod City, 2.

The active cases compromise 8.75 percent of the 1,406 confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded by the PRO-6 since the pandemic started last year.

The total number also includes 1278 recoveries and 5 deaths.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, PRO-6 spokesperson, said they provide financial assistance to every personnel who tested positive for COVID-19.

“Pag nagpositive ang personnel naton may financial assistance nga ginaprovide ang PRO-6, [including ang] mga nagkalamatay nga policemen,” he told IMT NEWS.

Meanwhile, Solis said 96.1 percent of the 12,968 police personnel in the region have already been vaccinated against the viral disease.

Broken down, 8,234 personnel are fully vaccinated and 4,734 got their first jabs.

“This week, hopefully may ara kita vaccination, hoping nga sige sige na ang pag-abot sang vaccine sa aton para next month mareach na ang 100%,” said Solis.Ian Paul Cordero/IMT
