Typhoon Odette has left millions of pesos worth of damage to agriculture in the province of Iloilo, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
Data from the PDRRMO showed that agricultural damage was pegged at P14.48 million as of Friday, Dec. 17.
Rice crops accounted for P7,644,000 while corn crops incurred damage costing P6,090,000.
The amount of damage to other crops (bananas, papaya, etc.) was estimated at P32,000.
About P710,000 worth of fishing boats were damaged by the typhoon.
Poultry, fowls and livestock were were also hit with damage valued at P9,259.
PDRRMO chief Jerry Bionat said the figures were based on assessment reports submitted by the local government units (LGU) of Ajuy, Balasan, and Concepcion.
So far, the PDRRMO recorded 274 totally wrecked houses and 12,912 partially damaged houses.
Guimbal had the most number of totally destryoed houses at 106
followed by Tigbauan (79), Alimodian (31), Leganes (29), San Joaquin (18), Maasin (4), Pototan and Lemery (2 each), and Lambunao, Dueñas, and San Rafael (1 each).
Meanwhile, Lemery registered the most number of partially damaged houses at 6,551, followed by Tigbauan (1,889), Dumangas (1,629), Guimbal (744), Alimodian (566), Lambunao (503), Sta. Barbara (481), San Enrique (200), Ajuy (94), Anilao (70), Pototan (65), Maasin (42), San Joaquin (39), New Lucena (20), San Rafael (15), and Dueñas (4).IMT
