Snatching three gold, two silver, and two bronze medals, the Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) taekwondo gym put a dazzling performance in the 2021 Online National CPJ Taekwondo Speed Kicking and Poomsae Championships.

Ilonggo jin and pride of Ateneo de Iloilo (AdI) Cyd Edryc Esmaña won the team’s first gold medal in the cadet male blackbelt event. This adds to his impressive feats this year, being the world champion athlete.

Miagao pride Angela Joy Marie Bermejo added another gold, following a victory in the speed kicking – junior women category. Alexis Eunice Araneta completed the gold medal-haul after winning the speed kicking – cadet female category.

“First and foremost, I want to thank God for this accomplishment, as well as my trainers, Sir Mark, Sir Diego, and Sir Mel, as well as my parents. I wouldn’t be able to acquire another experience without your help and support,” Bermejo shared

Julianna Martha Uy, fresh from winning the world taekwondo tournament was also unstoppable, capturing the silver medal, along with teammate Red Dyron Dedoroy Andria Margaret Palabrica and Jannah Ysabel Velez, on the other hand, garnered the bronze medals.

CPJ is one of the most respected events of PTA and it’s exclusive only for all blackbelters. “It’s not sub-categorize so winning any medal here, really means a lot. I’m so happy as a coach that our blackbelts known to be as our core group in the competition representing our team have shown the MVP spirit and represented our gym well, in this said event,” Pinggol said.IMT
