The small but terrible jin from Ateneo de Iloilo (AdI) is unstoppable.
Ilonggo Cyd Edryc Esmaña pulled off a stunner in the ongoing Batang Pinoy National Finals 2019 after snatching the gold medal in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Aug. 29.
Representing Iloilo City, the mainstay of Mark V. Pinggol Taekwondo Gym dominated other powerhouse cities, including Olongapo and Iligan in the Individual Poomsae Cadet category.
Before slowly making a name in the national tilt, Esmaña also starred in various competitions. Recently, he was included in the Philippine Taekwondo Association National Team Training Pool.
His coach Denmark Pinggol was also happy with the fest of his jin. “We’re happy to get the gold medal in the early days of this year’s event. Our sacrifices and hardworks have been paid off. We thanked all the coaches, jins, and parents for this achievement,” he added.
Esmaña is a native of Hibao-an, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. He recently won a gold medal during the 2018 National CPJ Taekwondo Championships (Individual Poomsae).
His mother Cyril said she’s happy that Cyd won another gold. “Every time he competes, I told him to enjoy and always show his best shots. We’re happy to bring honor to our home town. This gold medal is really worth it,” she shared.IMT
