At least 300 workers are expected to lose their jobs after a fire razed Gaisano Grand Mall in the province of Antique.
San Jose De de Beunavista Mayor Elmer Untaran is scheduled to meet with the mall management today, June 18.
He said the plight of affected workers will discussed during the meeting.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-6), all employees on duty during the incident managed get out of the mall safely.
The fire broke out past 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, and lasted for more or less five hours.
Fire Senior Supt. Jerry Candido, BFP-6 regional director, said the blaze, which reached “Task Force Alpha,” may be “electrical in nature.”
Further investigation on the exact cause of the blaze is ongoing.IMT
