The municipality of Lambunao, Iloilo on Tuesday, April 27, started its coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccinations for senior citizens who are included in the second priority group in the COVID-19 vaccination program of the government.
Mayor Reynor Gonzales and his wife, Freni, who are both senior citizens, led the vaccination roll-out. They received their first dose of the China based – Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine from public health nurse Connie B. Calinao at the Municipal Health Office.
The first couple was joined by the first batch of around 30 senior citizens who were inoculated that day.
Lilian Gerardino, one of the vaccinees, commented on a post of the Cec Infocenter Lambunao Facebook page that she did not feel any adverse effect after getting immunized.
Also, Tita Molojedo, chief of Marong village, commented that she has already received the vaccine and felt nothing unusual. She encouraged fellow older persons to think of their safety and protection when they are vaccinated.
The vaccinees will get their second dose after 28 days.
As of April 26, the municipality of Lambunao has recorded 113 confirmed COVID-19 cases with two active cases. Of the total number, 106 have recovered from the disease which also claimed the lives of five residents.JSC/laf/PIA6 Iloilo
