The Iloilo City Government wins the prestigious 2022 Galing Pook award for its I-Bike, a program promoting the development of the city bike culture.
The award was received by Mayor Jerry P. Treñas from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. during the awarding ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
“This is a testament to the hard work and good governance practiced by the Iloilo officials and employees. Teamwork and unity with a clear vision will ultimately make a difference,” Treñas said.
“Galing Pook is about good governance and projects worthy of emulation by other local government units. This will cap the awards we have been receiving,” the mayor added.
I-Bike “enhances bike lane networks which improved the connectivity of establishments, and city biking culture being promoted as the ‘Bike Capital of the Philippines.'”
The program was among the 10 out of 200 entries that were chosen as winners of this year’s Galing Pook Awards.
This is the third Galing Pook award received by the city government. In 2012 and 2018, it won the wards for the annual Dinagyang Festival and the rehabilitation of the Iloilo River, respectively.
Galing Pook Awards “recognizes local government units for their exemplary governance, innovation, sustainability, and resilience initiatives.”IMT
