The province of Iloilo has 13 suspected cases of acute gastroenteritis (AGE), a disease caused by the intake of water and food possibly contaminated with pathogenic microorganisms.
Provincial Health Office (PHO) head Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon said the suspected AGE patients came from six towns.
Six cases were reported in Oton, three in Leganes, and one each in Dingle, Pavia, Pototan, and San Joaquin.
According to Quiñon the patient from San Joaquin is working in Iloilo City while the one from Pavia is studying in the city.
The entire city is currently under a state of calamity due to the AGE and cholera outbreak.
