The death toll in the province of Iloilo from Tropical Depression Agaton has risen to five.
The casualties were identified as Floretino Dimaala, 62, of Barangay Ardemil; J-Boy Reyes, 16, of Barangay Apologista; and Nelson Edama, 40, of Barangay Tady, all in Sara.
Other fatalities were Ernesto Pamplona Jr., 47, of Barangay Tugas, Lemery and Alfred Osano, 41 of Barangay Taguhangin, Ajuy.
The five died of drowning in floods caused by heavy rains, according to the Provincial Health Office (PHO).
Meanwhile, the number of affected families in the province went up to 116,027 or 445,104 persons.
Carles has the highest number of affected families with 20,648 families or 78,182 persons.
Ajuy came in second with 17,335 families or 59,945 persons; followed by Balasan, 10,952 families; Lemery, 9,630 families; and Anilao, 8,358 families.
All in all, affected 25 towns, mostly in the province’s Fourth and Fifth Districts.IMT
