A 99-year-old Ilongga was released from the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC) in Manila after she “successfully” recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Rosa Chua, who battled the coronavirus for one week and was discharged on May 5, became the oldest COVID-19 survivor in Manila.
“I am very happy to be going home! Thank you to everyone at CGHMC who has given me the utmost medical care,” Chua said in Hiligaynon.
Doctor Stephany Tan, Chua’s attending physician, said her patient, who had pre-existing pneumonia, was “quite weak and wouldn’t eat” when she first arrived at the hospital on April 29 after testing positive for the disease.
Chua was then given a daily dose of anti-viral medications and steroids and was equipped with an oxygen mask, according to Tan.
“Before her confinement, Lola Rosa often had a sunny disposition and is rather independent. She’s also full of colorful stories and has a zest for life,” the doctor said.
“I think, along with the medicines, her positive outlook was a major boost in her recovery,” Tan stressed.IMT
