Eight local government units (LGUs) in the province of Iloilo have declared a state of calamity due to the effects of Tropical Depression Agaton.
Passi City and the towns of Sara, Ajuy, Concepcion, San Enrique, Pototan, Lemery and Barotac Nuevo were heavily affected by flooding caused by the weather disturbance.
The declaration will enable the LGUs to use their calamity funds to help those families whose houses and farms were destroyed by Agaton.
Based on data from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Agaton affected 32,809 persons in Lemery; 17,525 individuals in Sara; 17,335 in Ajuy; 14,679 in Barotac Nuevo; 7,481 in Passi City; 5,896 in San Enrique; 3,380 in Pototan; and 1,761 in Concepcion.IMT
