Mobile phone services in Iloilo City will be temporarily unavailable during the Dinagyang 360° Tribe Competition today, Jan. 26.

Telecommunications companies will cut off signals starting 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. “within the three-kilometer radius from the center of the event.”

The signal shutoff is part of the security measures to ensure the peaceful and orderly celebration of this year’s Dinagyang Festival.

The move was pushed by the City Council. It passed a resolution last Jan. 9 recommending the eight-hour shutoff.

It was during the 2017 Dinagyang Festival when the suspension of mobile services was first implemented.

The tribe competition is Dinagyang’s major highlight.IMT
