Drug enforcement teams under the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) arrested 77 persons and seized some P7.2 million worth of shabu during various operations from March 13 to 19, a report on showed.
The recoveries were part of the simultaneous anti-criminality operations called “Birada Semana”.
“I congratulate all units in Western Visayas for their significant contributions and notable accomplishments to the operations. This shows the enthusiasm of your police force in maintaining peace and order towards development in our community,” Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco, PRO-6 regional director, said in a statement.
During the period, the anti-drug units conducted 59 operations, where 77 drug personalities yielded about 1,062 grams of shabu.
According to PRO-6, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) were the biggest contributors to the accomplishments.
On March 18, the BCPO-City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested two suspects and seized 300 grams of suspected shabu worth P2.04 million during a buy-bust in Purok San Roque 1, Barangay Handumanan.
The suspects were identified as Maria Elirica Celis, 39, and Carlo Purillo, 36, both tagged as high-value individuals (HVIs).
In Iloilo City, operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit and Iloilo City Police Station 4 confiscated 160 grams of shabu amounting to P1.088 million from two suspects, an HVI and a street-level individual, in Barangay West Timawa, Molo District.
Personnel of the ICPO-CDEU also recovered P1.39 million worth of shabu from an HVI during a buy-bust in Arevalo District.PNA
