A hospital in Iloilo City has been placed on lockdown after six of its doctors tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The temporary lockdown of St. Paul’s Hospital on General Luna Street in City Proper was recommended by the Department of Health (DOH-6), according to lawyer Roy Villa, spokesperson of the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID-19.
This meant that no one is allowed entry inside the hospital’s premises.
“May mga [police personnel] nga nagasecure sang vicinity sang hospital kag ang aton city government ginsecure man ang kalsada pasulod sa St.Paul’s Hospital,” Villa said.
The lockdown started on Sunday evening, June 28, and will continue indefinitely.
Villa said the hospital personnel are currently under “strict quarantine”.
In its official statement, the management of St. Paul’s Hospital said: “Positive results are managed and contact tracing is done by [our] COVID-19 Task Force in accordance with with government guidelines.”
“Our protocols for infection control have always been in place and strictly followed. These are in accordance with accepted standards to address jthe COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the safety of everyone working, confined in or visiting the hospital,” it further said.
The positive results of RT-PCR tests conducted on the six doctors were anmounced by Mayor Jerry Treñas.
