The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) logged more than 50 “unsolved” crimes involving motorcycle riding suspects.

Based on ICPO’s Crime Incident Analysis System, there were 56 riding-in-tandem killings recorded in the city from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2020.

All these, according to ICPO, have remained unsolved up to this time.

Most of the incidents occurred in Jaro district with 21. La Paz had 12 incidents; Molo, 8; Mandurriao, 6; Arevalo, 5; and City Proper, 4.

In a report by radio station RMN-Iloilo, Lieutenant Colonel Joel Malong, Police Regional Office (PRO-6) spokesperson, said majority of the riding-in-tandem cases in Iloilo City were already considered “cold” and had been turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

A cold case “is defined as any criminal investigation by a law enforcement agency that the case at hand has not been cleared or solved and which probative investigative leads have been exhausted, however, yielded negative result or progress for six months.”

In a previous report by IMT News, Police Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos, the city’s new police chief, said one of ICPO’s top priorities under his leadership is the crackdown against riding-in-tandem criminals.IMT
