A five-year-old boy from Mandurriao district in Iloilo City has been infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to the Department of Health, the child is asymptomatic or showed no signs or symptoms of the disease.
He is currently the youngest COVID-19 patient in Western Visayas.
The boy is among the 15 new COVID-19 patients reported by the region’s health department on Monday, June 22.
Dr. Ma. Sophia S. Pulmones, DOH-6 spokesperson, said all the 15 patients are locally stranded individuals (LSIs) who arrived in Iloilo from Cebu early this month.
The region’s first COVID-19 case involving a child was reported in Antique.
