Five politicians in the province of Iloilo received threats to their lives, according to the provincial office of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) said the five elected officials are the following:
- Fourth District Representative Ferjenel “Ferj” Biron
- Dumangas Mayor Braeden John “BJ” Biron
- Barotac Nuveo Mayor Bryant Paul “BP” Biron
- Dumangas Vice Mayor Ronaldo “Onal” Golez
- Dueñas Mayor Robert Martin Pama
IPPO conducted threat assessments on government officials – both elected and appointed – as ordered by PNP chief General Rodolfo Azurin Jr.
The order came after the brazen killing of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo and the spate of violent attacks against local officials in the country.
IPPO said they will investigate the death threats and assured to beef up the security of the five politicians.IMT
