Forty-one cops in Iloilo City have been classified as persons under monitoring (PUMs) for possible coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection.
Among these 41 is Police Colonel Eric Dampal, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), Mayor Jerry Treñas revealed in a press conference on Monday, April 6.
According to Treñas, the police personnel had close contact with a cop who has been considered as a patient under investigation (PUI) for the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus.
“They are now under home quarantine,” he said.
The cop, who was suspected to be infected with COVID-19, had a travel history to Manila. He manifested fever and sore throat. His test result is still pending.
Meanwhile, Police Captain Sheila Mae Sangrines, ICPO spokesperson, assured that their operations would not be affected despite the mandatory quarantine of the identified personnel.
“They were immediately replaced by police officers from our standby force,” Sangrines said.IMT
