Another batch of stranded overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Manila will arrive in Iloilo City on Saturday, May 9.
According to the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD-6), the latest batch is composed of 40 repatriates.
Of the total number, 25 are residents of Iloilo province, 10 from Iloilo City, and five from Guimaras.
City Mayor Jerry Treñas said the repatriates will undergo both rapid and PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests upon arrival.
The returning OFWs, just like the previous batch, will also be billeted at a hotel in the city for their mandatory 14-day quarantine.
“Ang manegative sa PCR tugutan tana nga makapauli. Pwede na sila masugat sang ila pamilya,” Treñas said.
“Madugay na sila wala kapuli sa ila mga panimalay. We’ll allow them to go back to their houses kag didto nalang padayunon ang ila pagquarantine,” he added.
PCR test kits are considered by the Department of Health (DOH) as the gold standard for COVID-19 testing.
The first batch of repatriated OFWs from Manila arrived in the city on April 29. At least 20 of them tested positive for the deadly disease.IMT
