After surviving from neck-and-neck matches, Lapaz National High School (LPNHS), Hua Siong College of Iloilo (HSCI), Cabatuan National High School (CNHS) and Santa Barbara National High School (SBNHS) ruled the Iloilo City and Iloilo Province legs of Rebisco Volleyball League held at HSCI Ledesco gym over the weekend.

Walloping their way until the finals, LPNHS stepped up their games and capitalized on their powerful spikers as they upset Central Philippine University (CPU) and Santa Clarita International School (SCIS).

The Jigs Gallo-mentored Lapaz relied on the heroics of Laila Jean Bacalso, Cathleen Lou Jaena, Cherry Bagante, Marielle Dequila, Rhea Mae Tomas and Trisha Mae Pulmones who offensively dominated the matches. Other members of the team included sisters Perlen and Paulen Yonson, Gerelle Audrey Panes, Erica Marie Veloria, Juliane Marynz Castaneda, Noilyngel Amen and Arzela Mae Bonda.

Putting icing on top of a cake, HSCI also punched their ticket to the regional finals after eliminating University of San Agustin and St. Joseph High School in their bracket.

The Red Phoenix was comprised of Daniella Peregil, Jillian Jumilla, Jamela Mae Taguibe, Mariel Rhoda Maaliw, Sarah Ruth Llaguno, Jennie Mar Palacios, Sheinia Cejas, Jan Maryella Gumban, Mera Calderon, Jazzmin Martinez and Czarina Gerapusco.

In the Iloilo province leg, CNHS and SBNHS will represent the province after smashing other teams in the finals. The four winning teams will travel to San Carlos City in Negros Occidental this Sept. 7 and 8 for the Rebisco Volleyball League Regionals. They will face powerhouse teams from Bacolod City, Aklan and Negros Occidental and will try to reach the national arena.IMT Sports
