Four health workers in the province and city of Iloilo have been infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Dr. Renelyn Reyes of the Department of Health (DOH-6) said two of the four are among the 18 COVID-19 patients in the province, while the two others are among the seven infected patients in the city.
In the whole Western Visayas region, there are a total of five health workers who contracted the infectious disease.
The other one is among the six COVID-19 patients in the province of Aklan.
Of the five coronavirus-positive health workers, three are doctors from different hospitals. The rest include a nurse and a radiologic technologist.
According to Reyes, four of them had travel history outside Western Visayas.
“Ang isa naman may ara sya close contact sa upod sa balay nga may travel history outside the region,” she said.
“Buot silingon ang aton lima ka kaso indi sila related sa pagtake care sang COVID-19 patients. Daku ang tyansa nga nakuha nila and disease sa ila pagtravel,” she explained.
Reyes said they recorded 109 contacts of the five health workers.
“Sa 109, 63 na ang aton natest. Sa 63, 49 sa ila nagnegative, isa ang nagpositive and may tatlo kita nga pending cases sa isa naton ka health worker,” she noted.
There are currently 55 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region. The figure includes 11 recoveries and eight deaths.IMT
