Three barangays in Iloilo City have been put under granular lockdown to stem the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the areas.
The imposition of the granular lockdown, which took effect on Friday, Jan.14, at 6 p.m. until Monday, Jan. 17, at 5:59 p.m., was ordered by Mayor Jerry Treñas.
“According to the RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) test results from 12 January 2022 until 14 January 2022, there are three barangays with at least two continuously increasing number of confirmed positive COVID-198 cases,” Executive Order (EO) No. 007 stated.
These barangays are Baybay Tanza, Zamora-Melliza, and Veterans Village.
In the past seven days, Zamora-Melliza recorded 7 COVID-19 cases, Baybay Tanza logged 6 cases, and Veterans Village registered 3 cases.
The EO also imposes a curfew in the areas from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
The residents are strictly advised to refrain from unnecessary travel until the COVID-19 testing and sanitation process has been completed.
All forms of transportation, both private and public including the unauthorized movement of persons along the streets of the affected barangays, are restricted for the duration of the granular lockdown except for those who need immediate hospital care and management and authorized personnel.
Meanwhile, the city government will provide food and medical needs of the residents of the affected barangays.IMT
