Three Ateneo de Iloilo-Santa Maria Catholic School (AdI-SMCS) teachers tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“[They] are currently confined in a government facility where they will complete the mandatory quarantine and await clearance and release by the Department of Health (DOH),” AdI-SMCS president Fr. Joseph Raymund Patrick S. Sanchez said in a statement.

The three, according to Fr. Sanchez, are asymptomatic or have not manifested any symptom of COVID-19.

Those who came in close contact with the coronavirus-positive teachers subjected themselves to swab testing and are now under strict home quarantine.

“All of them hope to be cleared by the time they complete the mandatory 14-day quarantine after swabbing,” Fr. Sanchez said.

As part of measures to suppress the spread of the novel coronavirus, the campus in Mandurriao district was disinfected twice.

Fr. Sanchez said AdI-SMCS has been “in close coordination with the Mayor’s Office, the City Health Office, and the DOH-6 since August 16 when one of their employees got exposed to an infected person.

“We have also received guidance and taken instructions from these offices. We are grateful to these offices for all the assistance that they have extended to us in terms of disinfecting our premises, swabbing those in our contact list, advising us on quarantine procedures and guiding us in the general handling of the situation,” he shared.

“Rest assured as well that we have followed all procedures and protocols to the best of our ability. We continue to clean and disinfect the whole campus, following our safety and health protocols, so our personnel, parents, and guardians can rest assured that our campus is safe enough for the usual conduct of business,” Fr. Sanchez added.IMT
