Two private firms have expressed interest to invest in Iloilo City’s transportation sector.
Councilor Ely Estante, vice chairman of the Sangguninang Panlungsod’s transportation committee, said Transit X and Grab Philippines submitted their proposals to help the city improve its public transportation system.
Transit X, according to Estante, proposed to install cable car system in the city. Each cable car has a loading capacity of five passengers.
The company is based in Boston, USA. It is the developer of “flying solar pods.”
On the other hand, Grab Philippines wants to expand its GrabCar operations in the city.
GrabCar is a private hire car hailing service.
At present, Grab users in Iloilo City are only limited to GrabTaxi, a service that outsources rides from taxi companies.
There are currently more than 500 Grab taxi drivers in the metropolis. IMT
