Two new big companies have expressed interest in investing in Iloilo City.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said on Thursday, Jan. 30, Optum and Megawide Construction Corp. submitted their proposals to his office.
Optum is a business process outsourcing (BPO) firm that focuses on healthcare-related services.
Treñas said the company would need at least 1,500 workers once it becomes operational in the city.
Megawide, on the other hand, is an infrastructure conglomerate “with a decisive portfolio in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), and airport, infrastructure, progressive property development, and renewable energy.”
Treñas said Megawide is keen on developing a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in the city.
The proposed project, according to Treñas, would be a big help in addressing the city’s transport problem.
The mayor said he would study the proposals carefully.IMT
