The youngest coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patient in Western Visayas now is a two-month-old baby boy.
The infected infant, tagged as WV Patient No. 344, is from the town of Moises Padilla in Negros Occidental.
Classified as locally stranded individual (LSI), the baby arrived from Manila with his family on June 21.
According to Dr. Renilyn Reyes, spokesperson of the Department of Health (DOH-6), the patient is asymptomatic and is currently in a quarantine facility.
“Amo palang ni sa aton prelimenary information, wala pa ang results sang iya familiy members nga upod nya nag-abot,” she said.
The baby is among the 21 new COVID-19 cases reported by the DOH-6 on Thursday, July 2.
The additional cases involved 19 LSIs, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), and a businessman.
The whole region currently has 353 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 194 active cases, 148 recoveries, and 11 deaths.IMT
