Two persons died of drowning in the province of Iloilo during the celebration of the feast of St. John (San Juan) the Baptist on Saturday, June 24.

The drowning incidents occurred in Barangay Pantalan, Anilao and Barangay Namocon, Tigbauan, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO-6).

One of the casualties was identified as Freddie Divinagracia, 30, of Pantalan village. He wad declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

Police Captain Maria Fe Umiten of the Anilao Police Station, in a report by radio station RMN-Iloilo, said Divinagracia was drunk when he went for a swim.

The PRO-6 also recorded four deaths due drowning in Nueva Valencia, Guimaras; New Washington, Aklan; Pilar, Capiz and EB Magalona, Negros Occidental.

The casualty in Guimaras was identified as Jomar Soriano, 40, of Barangay Tacay in Buenavista town.IMT
