After displaying great atheticism, 15 jins from Mark V. Pinggol Iloilo Taekwondo Gym were promoted blackbelters during the team’s promotion test at the MVP gym.
It was one of the biggest promotions for the Iloilo City-based team as they produced many blackbelters this time. The said taekwondo promotion is a regular event of the Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) conducted in every Regional Chapter by the Regional Promotion Board Committee to upgrade jins’ skills after 3 to 4 months of intensive training in the gym.
Thaddeus West, an 8 year-old jin, was the youngest blackbelter in the gym after qualifying the promotion.
Angela Marie Bermejo, Elianna Jamille Comuelo, and Crisgel Castro were also promoted 2nd Dan blackbelters.
“I am very happy and grateful for having this opportunity for being promoted to 2nd Dan Blackbelt. To my coaches and parents, I’m very thankful for your support throughout this journey. I practiced all the forms and defenses that I needed to memorize and trained with my teammates everyday for the preparation and assisted some of my juniors before and after our training,” Bermejo shared.
Meanwhile, 11 jins from Calinog Taekwondo Association (CTA) captured medals in Mayor Jerry P. Treñas holiday taekwondo event last week.
The team brought home nine gold medals in the tournament. The team was led by Alyza Ladines, who won the first gold medal.
Marckie Garrido also took the gold medal, along with Anton Palmes, Trishley Anne Flores, Joeline Franco, Gio Penalosa, Rezelle Caniel, Shurik Sage, and Dane Celo. Marl Batulayan and Wyatt Kauffman delivered silver medal each.IMT
