At least 12 personnel of the Department of Tourism (DOT-6) have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“Despite protective measures being practiced in the workplace, it is unfortunate that we inform the public that 12 staff working at the DOT Region VI office [contracted the disease],” the agency said in its public advisory issued on Tuesday, July 20.
The infected staffers “were already isolated and most of them were asymptomatic to having mild symptoms.”
The office on Bonifacio Drive in Iloilo City “will remain closed until further notice.”
“Our transacting public can still reach us through the email address posted on the DOT VI Western Visayas Facebook page,” the agency said.
“We seek your continued understanding and prayers,” it added.
The DOT-6 thanked Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas and Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. “for their immediate assistance.”IMT
