Twelve employees of the Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In an advisory released on Saturday, Jan. 9, the DOH-6 said the twelve have mild symptoms of the dreaded disease.

Of the infected employees, “one is currently in a hospital, two are in facility quarantine, while the rest are on strict home quarantine.”

Contact tracing, according to the DOH-6, “is ongoing in coordination with the local government units (LGUs) and in support of the Barangay Health Emergency and Response Teams (BHERTS).”

“All identified close contacts in the workplace have already been notified and placed under quarantine,” it said.

“Disinfection and decontamination of the office premises were already done,” the DOH-6 added.

The DOH-6 assured the public of its “continued commitment to serve to the people in Western Visayas” despite the recent development.

“The office [in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City] will continue to be open to serve its clients but some work units/sections in the agency will continue their services under a work from home arrangement starting [on Jan. 11] until further notice pending the result of the contact tracing,” it said.

“All visitors should strictly observe the health protocols such as wearing of face masks and face shields for additional protection, physical distancing, hand disinfection, and temperature check,” it further said.IMT
