The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has received more than 100,000 applications in the first week of the nationwide voter registration for the May 11, 2020 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls.

As of August 8, the Comelec data showed that a total of 100,399 applications were submitted to local Comelec offices all over the country from August 1 to August 7.

In just three days, 92,392 applications were received from those who are 18 years of age and above while 8,007 applications were received from SK registrants aged 15 to 17-years-old, the data showed.

The Comelec noted that Region IV-A, (Calabarzon) registered the highest number of 18-year-old and above applicants at 19,651.

On the other hand, Region VII (Central Visayas) recorded the most number of applications from 15-to 17-year-old registrants at 1,043.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), a total of 8,430 applications have been received.

A total 44,424 male and 55,975 female applicants were processed nationwide.

The voter registration period, pursuant to Comelec Resolution No. 10549, which started on August 1 and will run until September 30, 2019.

Applications are accepted in all Offices of Election Officers in the city/municipality where the individual resides.

It is open from Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.PNA/IMT
