Ten towns in the province of Iloilo are now free of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) after their patients have all recovered.
Based on data released by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) on Monday, Dec. 7, the towns of Sara, Alimodian, New Lucena, Maasin, Balasan, Ajuy, Estancia, Badiangan, Tubungan, and Bingawan have no more active cases.
Of the ten, half have no reported deaths. These are Tubungan (15 cases), Bingawan (13 cases), Balasan (24 cases), Ajuy (21 cases), and New Lucena (29 cases).
The remaining half logged deaths: Estancia (28 recoveries; 6 deaths), Sara (51 recoveries, one death), Alimodian (48 recoveries, two deaths), Maasin (25 recoveries, two deaths), and Badiangan (15 recoveries; one death).
The whole province, as of Dec. 7, registered a total of 2,775 cases of COVID-19, of which 86.27 percent or 2,394 have recovered, 2.55 percent or 85 have died, and 29.71 percent or 296 are considered active.
Of the patients who are still infected with the coronavirus, 210 are asymptomatic, 34 experience mild symptoms and 52 suffer severe symptoms.
The towns with the highest number of infections are Oton (302), Pavia (245), Passi City (173), Santa Barbara, (118), and Pototan (104).
The province, which has 42 towns and one component city, is currently under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), the lowest form of community quarantine enforced by the government.IMT
