Ten police officers from the Miagao Municipal Police Station (MPS) have been infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
Police Major Valen Rommel De Los Santos, Miagao MPS deputy chief, said the 10 infected cops are asymptomatic or have not manifested any symptom of the disease.
All the 32 police officers assigned at the police station are currently under a 14-day mandatory quarantine.
The ten are among the first 19 cops who went through swab testing on Feb. 10. The remaining thirteen will have themselves tested for COVID-19 within this week.
De Los Santos said the Miagao MPS has been closed for disinfection. The town’s Senior Citizen Building temporarily serves as their station.
The police station has no detainees.
Operations, according to De Los Santos, are currently being undertaken by personnel from the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) and other municipal police stations.IMT
