More than half a million pesos was carted away by three suspects in a daring daylight robbery in Barangay Pasig, Lambunao town, Iloilo province on Thursday, Sept. 15.

Police Major Jogen Suegay, Lambunao Police Station chief, said the still unidentified suspects took P591 thousand in cash from a delivery van.

The incident, which took place at around 3:45 p.m., resulted in the death of a driver and wounded two sales representatives.

The fatality was identified as Jerry Paldas, 45, of Passi City. He suffered fatal gunshot wounds on his head and chest.

The driver, according to Suegay, was declared dead on the spot.

Those wounded were Elbert Mardoquio, 37, of Cabatuan and Jeriel Nalangan, 35, of Calinog.

The delivery van loaded with cigarettes was heading back to Iloilo City when it was shot by one of the suspects several times.

Mardoquio and Nalangan, who both sustained gunshot wounds on their shoulders, were able to alight the delivery van and ran away from the suspects whose faces were half covered.

Recovered at the crime scene were at least two empty shells from a 12-gauge shotgun.

Investigation is ongoing for the identification and arrest of the suspects.IMT
